As a member of the Diaspora African Women’s Network (DAWN) 5th Annual Host Committee, I am pleased to invite you to our 5th Anniversary Celebration & Fundraiser on November 15, 2012. In just a few weeks, this two hour cocktail reception will be DAWN’s first major event and fundraiser with its members, supporters, and friends from the African Affairs community.

In addition to our members and supporters, the night will include special guests Les Nubians, the Grammy-nominated French & Cameroonian R&B singing duo and the African Union’s Ambassador to the United States, Her Excellency Amina Ali as its DAWN Honoree of the Year. DAWN will also honor its Mentor of the Year, Nicole Peacock and its Member of the Year, Ngozi Nmezi.

I’m proud to represent DAWN and invite you to join me support its growth. DAWN is a global membership-based organization that believes in the power, promise and potential of Africa’s brightest minds in the diaspora and on the continent. Its mission is to develop and support the next generation of African diaspora women leaders focused on African affairs. Each of its 200 members is professionally focused on Africa and serves as a local community leader with global reach.

Some of DAWN’s achievements include:

    200 emerging women leaders of the African diaspora, representing 31 African countries, 13 American states and four continents.
    Recognized by President Barack Obama as 2012 White House Champions of Change
    Awarded by the African Union as its 2012 Diaspora Awardee of the Year
    One of 80 delegates at the “Women, Youth & the African Diaspora” Summit in Pretoria, South Africa in May 2012.
