They love me; They don’t love me

I wish I could say that I’ve been busy making out with super-hot actresses for a movie but sadly, I am still stuck on Audition Street –- slowly ambling my way towards the Super Star highway. This past week was packed with 4 auditions. Of which I got 3 callbacks. Ask any actor and they’ll tell you that that’s an awesome conversion ratio, no matter the sum total. I haven’t yet, but I am going to start a comparison/tracking chart of auditions vs callbacks vs bookings.

Now I am fully aware that I’ll be rejected more often than I’ll get a booking. But lately I am pretty encouraged by the audition to callback conversion ratio.

With that, next week is starting out well so far. I have two small (read; every audition is big at this stage, but it’s a small step forward when I look at the big picture) auditions: one for Lubys Cafe as a MOS (mute on sound) chef and the other one for Hasbro. Yes, that’s Hasbro. Makers of the one and only Transformers! This would not only be awesome, but nostalgic to a level too. One of my very first toys when I arrived in this country was Scramjet. I can’t remember if he’s a Deceptorcon or Autobot. I guess I have to get a refresher course before the movie comes out. But I digress. I am not sure what I’ll be doing in the commercial, err, audition, but rest assured that I will be acting a fool! You are laughing, but how many times does your day job give you the opportunity to relive your childhood. And, and get paid for it! Mmm hmmm, I thought so!

So I’ve got quite a busy weekend rehearsing how to look and act like a chef. Not a problem. Between TLC’s Take Home Chef and the Food Channel, I’ve more than enough material for the weekend… or I could just kick back and tap into William Hung’s Cooking Show podcast! Woot!
