It worries me how ignorant we are of our rights as humans. For starters, the video above has only been viewed 4,451 times since it was uploaded over a year ago. Almost 7 billion people on the planet. Let’s be conservative and say that 1 billion have access to broadband. That’s serious right there. It is still even more serious if you were to tighten the pool down to 1 million people with enough access to broadband. Only 4,451 have viewed this one. Out of 1 million. There are five separate uploads of this same video with a total of only 8,401 views as of this posting. I guess everyone is distracted with Lady Gaga’s latest video, Alejandro with nearly 100 million views as of today.

So I’ve been thinking about the question you pose. I think the explanation for poor viewership revolves around Delivery. This video, while being totally right as far as I can tell tell, does not do a good job of delivering to it’s audience. It’s not concise, it’s not articulate, the arguments are poorly structured and there’s no connection between the subject and the viewer emotionally. Also, it’s really slow.
Lady G, what ever you may think of her, is huge not just for her shock, but because she delivers and connects. I’m willing to bet that Alejandro has a lot of referral traffic. Things that people think are worth others people’s time will be shared.
I suppose so, but human rights is also a very complex subject to make entertaining. In that vain, I think that they did as best as they could. Lady G on the other hand, is purely about entertainment & shock value, very little substance… which makes it easy to be entertaining. One doesn’t have to think to enjoy it.
