It has been over a year since I posted a iOTW shot. For the new that stands for Image of the Week. Today I shot my first corporate portrait in a number of months. Traveling hasn’t really lent me the opportunity to do many of these.
During this shoot, I realized that I really do like taking portraits of people. There’s a certain magic about having someone’s attention for just that split second when they let you capture their sole and lock away a moment in their life just for you. I also realized how much freer I am when I hold the camera instead of mounting it to a tripod. I’ve never been comfortable shooting portraits on a tripod. There’s something to holding a massive camera in my hand. I liken it to a painter’s brush… only bigger, badder, and full frame.
I would even go so far as to say it completes me, but that would just be lame.
