Kenya’s Nation Media Group is stepping up the media game with Africa Review. I especially love the photo essays. Short, visual stories that suck you deep into a situation. I loved all of them. This one, From refuse to cooking gas by Emma Nzioka caught my eye. Africa ingenuity at it’s best:
The school stores the collected waste in these tanks for processing to biogas which is used to prepare daily meals for 950 boarding students. The school saves up to $20,000 a year which it previously spent on firewood and another $2000 that was used to empty sewage tanks over the same period.
Update: I really, really missing being behind the camera. I need to restock my gear again.
